Juice Fast #2–Day 13

I’m going to be quite honest….I can’t wait for this juice fast to be over.  I came so close to just eating something this morning after I got home from work.  Usually the urge subsides by the time I wake up, but today I still want to eat.  I’m sitting here enjoying my first juice of the day, but I’m so ready to be done with it.  I guess that’s pretty much how I felt at the end of the fast last time too.  How anyone can do 60+ days is beyond me.  Of course I’ve pretty much lose everything I want to/can lose.  If I kept seeing pounds flying off and felt better because of it then I’m sure that would be some good motivation to continue.

The scale didn’t budge for me today, still holding at 132.2.  If I end up not losing anything more than that I’ll be ok with it.  I am happy with my results and that’s all that matters!

Juice Fast #2–Day 12

I can see the finish line just ahead!  The closer I get the more I want to walk rather than sprint, lol.  Seems to me that mornings (my late nights) are the times when I want food the most. 

Talk about torture….there were pastries at work last night just staring at me for 14 hours.  Amazingly enough I resisted temptation and never touched them.  If I could eat with my eyes though they’d have been gone!

Lost .6lbs since yesterday and a grand total of 8lbs in the last 12 days.  That’s really amazing.  My body has changed so much in this short amount of time.  I kinda wish I had taken some measurements other than weight when I started.  The thing I notice most is my stomach (because that’s what I hate the most), but I’ve been told my face is looking thin too.  Of course my stomach and my face are the two areas I always notice weight in first, so I guess it makes sense that that’s where I’d lose it from first too.

As much as I’m happy with my results, I’m going to be really happy to eat again.  Last time I was able to maintain and even lose weight after the fast and I truly hope that’s the case this time too, but I am a little nervous.  I like my body so much more at this weight and I really don’t want to gain anything back.  No sense in worrying though, only time will tell.  I do know one thing, I won’t be ready for another fast until at least a year from now!

Juice Fast #2–Day 11

This round of juice fast is quickly coming to an end.  Amazingly I’m not feeling like I did the last time, where I want to eat so badly.  I was having a moment this morning where I REALLY wanted to eat, but it passed quickly enough.  I’m rarely ever hungry, but it’s those rare times when I feel like I just can’t get full when I crave food the most.

It was a very small loss today, down .2lbs, at 132.8!  I’m really excited to see 132 on the scale again.  I’m wearing a pair of work pants that have always been a little tight and today they are feeling loose and baggy.  That’s a nice feeling!

I’m going to tell you all right now that I’m already planning a cheat!  My last day of the juice fast is August 1st.  I’m going to Portland to buy my new MacBook Pro that day, and I am for sure having sushi for lunch!  Technically I should finish out the day on juice, but I can’t think of a better first meal than sushi.  I can’t wait already!

Juice Fast #2–Day 9

For those of you who have actually seen me in person the last few weeks, I assure you my winking is not a sign that I have developed crushes on all of you!  I’ve had this super annoying eye twitch for a few weeks now (since before I started the juice fast).  I’ve had eye twitches before and I always thought that it was caused by eye strain, a sign that my vision was changing….or even stress.  I mentioned it to a coworker the other day and she told me that it can be a sign of vitamin deficiency.  I did some research online and found out that, sure enough, eye twitching can be caused by vitamin deficiencies, most commonly a B-12 deficiency. 

You can only get B-12 by having meat in your diet, so a deficiency in this area should really come as no surprise for me.  Even when I’m not on a juice fast I don’t really eat meat very often.  Mostly because I don’t like to cook raw meat myself, and then when I’m out at a restaurant I just usually see something meatless on the menu that looks good to me.  Finally, after three days of taking some vitamins (yes I know I should do this all the time), the twitch is almost completely gone!  Before it was more of an almost all the time thing and now it’s rarely ever happening.  I know I need to keep up with the vitamins, but the main reason I wasn’t taking them before was because they give me such an upset stomach.  I guess I just have to suck it up and do what I know is best for my health. 

I have my yearly check-up next month so I plan on asking for a full screening of all of my levels to make sure I’m not low on anything else.  Did you know that a vitamin D deficiency is a common link in those who get cancer?  I had a deficiency in that before and now I’m finally at a “recovery level” as of my last check-up.  That I do take a on a daily basis because cancer is no joke.  Also, vitamin D deficiencies can show up as problems sleeping (which I was having big time back then).  I think everyone who lives here on the dreary coast should be taking a vitamin D supplement, but of course check with your doctor!

I thought for sure I’d lose a lot between yesterday and today, but in fact I stayed exactly the same, 134.4.  The exciting news is that I managed to fit into my size 4 jeans yesterday!  I worked out for an hour on my treadmill, and walked a few miles on the Astoria Riverwalk so I was a little surprised.  Then again, I was so busy that I only drank three juices instead of my usual five.  I think I actually didn’t consume enough calories to actually lose anything (sounds backwards I know, but it’s true).  So today my goal is five juices!

Juice Fast #2–Day 8

Today is much better than yesterday.  I’m not wanting to eat everything and anything in site which is nice, not feeling so hungry either.  I did make a sort of cheat juice yesterday thinking it would help, and maybe it did.  It was mostly all fruit, but not as sweet as I wanted it to be because of the grapefruit.

Since yesterday wasn’t really supposed to be a weigh in day, I’m down 1.0lbs over two days, not bad at all.  At 134.4 as of today.

This is a screenshot from my phone, an app called Fitter.  I only use it to track my progress, but I also like that it shows me my BMI too.  A pretty useful app if you’re looking for those tools.

There is a fairly high potential for some cheating today, which has me more worried than excited.  I really don’t want to cheat, but I may find myself out to dinner tonight and it would just be weird to not eat.  So, if that’s the case I’m going to attempt to pick something fairly healthy from the menu.  I’m sure one meal out will be a little setback at this point, but just a little.

Have you ever looked in the mirror and actually thought you looked good?  I’m so excited!  I’m finally feeling good about how I look.  Belly pooch is almost all gone!

Juice Fast #2–Day 7

Today, and especially last night at work, I really want food!  I don’t even care what it is.  Still no cravings but everything and anything sounds and looks pretty good.  It didn’t seem to matter how much juice I drank last night I was still hungry.  I’m supposed to be past that point by now (especially since I didn’t have it at the beginning).  Kinda weird to be having willpower issues at the half-way point.  Sticking to it though.

Normally I wouldn’t weigh in today since I don’t actually sleep a full night, but I just took a little nap and stepped on the scale after I got up….same as yesterday 135.4, so that’s promising for some loss tomorrow after I sleep tonight.  Transitioning between nights and days, whether on a juice fast or not, is always difficult because I eat a lot more than usual, simply because I’m awake so many more hours than normal.

I’m also in a pretty crappy mood, but the juice fast doesn’t have much to do with that, although I’m sure it plays a small part.  If I weren’t fasting I’d most likely be searching my cupboards, refrigerator, and freezer for some comfort food. 

Juice Fast #2–Day 6

I’ve nearly made it through my first work week while fasting and it’s actually going great.  I’m hardly every hungry, and I realized after a coworker asked me last night, that I’m not even having cravings like I had before.  This doesn’t mean that I can’t wait for solid food though, because I am really looking forward to that!

Very small weight loss since yesterday.  Down 0.2lbs to 135.4.  I feel like these small loses are the real weight coming off so I’m not discouraged.  I’ll be able to try working out again now that my weekend is here.  Hopefully I’ll have more energy than the last time I tried.
