Moved up to week 2!  So far I’m feeling great while running.  I feel like I could push myself harder but I know that’s not smart so I’m just plugging away at these runs.  It’s been nearly a year since I was able to run with any kind of consistency and without pain but it seems that this time around it’s coming to me much easier than it did last time.  Of course, I’m only running 1 1/2 minutes at a time right now.  Baby steps though, I’ll get there as long as I can keep my knee healthy.  Slowly picking up my pace!

Shauna went for a 2.22 mile run at a pace of 13:20 per mile using Nike+ Running Monitor

As a side note, I forgot to mention the other day that I got my nose pierced!  I love, love, love it.  And, let me just tell you that it does not hurt at all!  This was taken not even 10 minutes after having it done.  Looks like I’ve had it my whole life!

Also, I have discovered the BEST nail polish I’ve ever used!  It’s Sally Hansen’s Insta-Dry!  Literally completely dry within a minute or two, nice and shiny, and no chipping so far (and I even replaced my windshield wipers).  I’d love it if this stuff will stay on for at least a week with no problems, but even if it doesn’t the fact that it’s so easy and quick to reapply makes it worth it in my book.  Someone even asked me if I got them shellacked!  That’s really how good they look.

C25K-Week One Done!

5 Apr

So stinkin’ excited!  I’ve managed to run one full week of C25K, and didn’t even take any extra days off.  So far my knee is not hurting at all (at least nothing out of the ordinary).  I’ve been good about stretching before and after, and using my foam roller before and after, I think that’s helping a lot.  I’m really trying to stay focused on just running and not worrying about speed, distance, or anything else other than taking it slow and working myself up to where I need to be again.  I guess I didn’t really realize how much I was missing running, it feels really good to get back into it and to work up a sweat!  Also, I feel less guilty when I eat crap after a run, that’s always a plus!

So, I did 6.83 miles in that first week.  So sad since I used to do close to that in one run, but I have to remember to keep things in perspective.  That’s more than I’ve ran in any one week in close to a year, so YAY ME!

Also, I forgot to mention the other day that I finally made it to green on Nike+!  That felt like it took forever, but it is really forever until I get to blue.  Oh well, I’ve got nothing but time anyway.  I think Nike should send you a gift card or something when you hit these milestones.  It’s not like they happen all that often and it would be good to promote their products.  Plus, they have to know you’re already using at least their shoes and sensors since you’re able to upload runs.  Just a thought, but seriously those in charge at Nike….take a listen please!  Those little clips of people talking to me after reaching a goal are not all that motivating.

I did it!  Finally got started on Couch to 5k again.  So far so good.  It actually felt really good to get some cardio in.  My knee that’s been giving me problems for over a year now was ok, not great, but ok.  There was some slight discomfort but not pain exactly.  I used my foam roller on my IT band after so hopefully that’s going to help!  Just taking it nice and slow and attempting to avoid injury this time.
